For Jatin
The calm light of the gallery,
The cool air aspiring from the tended garden,
Seem to ignore
The sleepless night of the sidewalks,
Garbage of shanty towns, traffic stink,
Only for the moment, only to take it in
to the guts of the paintings,
to resolve it through muscles flexed
in tenacious protest.
